My translation of Dante's Inferno has finally been released! I've been working on this for over a decade. It's in a verse form known as terza rima, just like the original Italian. There are also notes, a bibliography, a glossary of people and places (with pronunciations), and a ton of original artwork (maps, illustrations, diagrams of Dante's Hell). I am unbelievably excited!! I can't wait for people to check it out. If you buy the book and like it, don't forget to leave a review on Amazon: it really helps a lot.
In the middle of the journey of our life,
I found myself again in a dark forest,
for I had lost the pathway straight and right.
Hi Josh!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your translation!
I am buying it now...just bought the hardback! So excited (yeah, I'm a nerd).
Sent you an email on Mar 10. Go check it out. Let me know if I need to resend.
Again, Congrats! When can we expect the Purgatorio?
Peace, Russell
That's so exciting!! (I am also a nerd, haha.) Thanks, Russell. I hope you like the rest of my translation. Purgatorio will be a while, but I will definitely complete the entire Comedy, so it's coming. First, I'll take a little break from Dante and do some more work on my Iliad translation. Of course, if my Inferno miraculously sells a hundred thousand copies, that could persuade me to come back to Dante sooner :)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I made a tweet with a link to your book and it got a decent amount of attention. I hope I was able to get more people to take a look at it, because it is a really cool book. I haven't added it to the Dante's Afterlife bibliography yet, but I will soon. I hope it gets the exposure it deserves. Stay in touch.
Best,
J. Simon Harris
